Why we're different

The honest version.

Disaster recovery has too many companies that overpromise and underdeliver. Here's how we operate differently.

i.

Flat fees, never contingent

Our prices don't change based on what FEMA awards you. We charge for our work, not a percentage of your funding. Federal disaster funds shouldn't flow through fee collectors — that's a fraud red flag.

ii.

No guarantees, real talk

FEMA and SBA make all approval decisions. Anyone guaranteeing approval is lying to you. What we guarantee is the cleanest possible application — the single biggest factor you can control.

iii.

Honest manual review

If your county isn't on the FEMA Individual Assistance list, we don't auto-charge you and hope for the best. Your case gets a personal review and an honest conversation about your odds before any payment.

iv.

Stop any time

You're never locked in. Each phase is a separate decision. If Phase 1 didn't add value or your situation changes, you don't owe us Phase 2 or Phase 3. That's how this should work.

Plain English

We are not FEMA. We are not SBA. We are not a lender, government agency, or anyone official.

Storm Recovery Group is a private company that helps homeowners organize their FEMA and SBA paperwork. You can apply directly at the official sites below, free of charge, without us. We exist for homeowners who'd rather have a guide than figure it out alone.

Common questions

Things people ask first.

Why does this cost money? Aren't FEMA and SBA free?
FEMA and SBA are free to apply to. You can do it yourself at DisasterAssistance.gov or SBA.gov, no charge. What Storm Recovery Group provides is hands-on help — document organization, application walk-throughs, inspection prep, reconsideration support. We charge for our work, not for access to government programs. If you'd rather DIY, that's a totally valid option.
Can you guarantee I'll get approved?
No. And anyone telling you they can is lying. FEMA and SBA make all approval decisions based on damage, income, insurance gaps, and documentation quality. What we guarantee is that you'll have the cleanest, most organized application possible — which is the single biggest factor under your control.
Will my fees come out of my FEMA award?
No. Federal disaster funds shouldn't flow through fee collectors — that's actually a red flag for fraud. Our fees are paid directly by you for the work we perform. Your FEMA grant goes straight to you and is yours to use for the disaster-related needs FEMA approves. We're completely separate.
What if FEMA denies me?
Denials happen and they're often reversible. Phase 3 includes reconsideration support — we help you put together the appeal with the right documentation. You have 60 days from your denial letter to appeal. We can't guarantee they'll change their mind, but we can guarantee you'll have the cleanest possible appeal package.
How long does the whole process take?
Phase 1 wraps in 7–14 days. Phase 2 typically runs 30–60 days because we're waiting on FEMA's processing. FEMA inspections usually happen 30–90 days after registration. Total timeline is typically 60–120 days from start to FEMA decision. SBA loans take an additional 60–90 days after the application is complete.
What if my county isn't on your list?
Counties not on our active list either weren't designated for FEMA Individual Assistance, or the disaster doesn't cover that area. We have a manual review path — Shaederrica personally reviews your situation and reaches out within one business day to be honest about your odds. We don't take payment until we both agree the service makes sense for you.
What if I can't afford $299 right now?
Phase 1 has a payment plan — three bi-weekly payments of $99.67 each, no interest, no fees. Your case opens the same day your first payment clears, so we don't make you wait. The plan finishes in about six weeks. If that still feels tight, talk to us — sometimes people are better off applying directly at DisasterAssistance.gov for free if money is tight.
I already started my FEMA application. Can you still help?
Yes. About half our clients have already started something — registered with FEMA, started SBA, gathered documents. We pick up wherever you are. Bring whatever registration numbers and case IDs you have to our welcome call.
